The use of cooling towers (the development trend of cooling towers in the country)
The cooling towers of Chinese power plants started from a height of 40 meters in the 1960s, and with the improvement of power generation levels, they have risen all the way to the world's highest level of 225 meters this year.
At present, coal-fired thermal power generation still occupies the main position of China's energy supply. In addition to coal, coal-fired thermal power plants are also large water consumers. Cooling towers are an important measure to save water in thermal power plants.
China is a country with severe drought and water shortage. The per capita freshwater resources are only 1/4 of the world average, and it is one of the 13 countries with the poorest water resources per capita in the world.
At present, in China, except for some southern and coastal areas that can use through-flow cooling, thermal power plants in most areas adopt secondary-circulation cooling with natural draft cooling towers.
In water-scarce areas in the north, more water-saving air-cooling methods are usually adopted. When indirect air-cooling methods are adopted, it is also necessary to build large natural ventilation indirect empty towers.
What is the technical level of cooling towers in my country?
China's cooling tower technology started late, but developed rapidly. It is estimated that there are currently more than a thousand cooling towers of various sizes in the country, most of which are conventional counter-flow natural draft cooling towers.
China's first natural ventilation cooling tower was built in Fushun Power Plant in 1936. The tower is 50 meters high and has a water spray area of 1,000 square meters. With the construction of a large number of ultra-supercritical million-unit power plants in my country, the application of ultra-large cooling towers (with a spray area of more than 10,000 square meters) has gradually appeared in the country, and the height has gradually exceeded 200 meters.
Conventional wet cooling towers generally use fresh water as the cooling medium. The earliest super-large cooling tower put into operation in China is the conventional cooling tower of the 1,000 MW thermal power unit in the fourth phase of Shandong Zouxian Power Plant. The cooling tower has a water spray area of 12,000 square meters and a tower height of 165 meters.
International Shanghai water cooling towers have been used for many years. However, the thermal drainage of power plants will have a certain impact on the seawater. With the improvement of environmental protection requirements, in order to reduce the impact, thermal power plants in some coastal areas of my country have also adopted the seawater secondary circulation cooling method with natural ventilation cooling towers.
At present, power plants in coal-rich and water-deficient areas in China have widely used air-cooling systems. Indirect air-cooling towers may become the first choice in the future due to their better safety and operational stability, and their application prospects and market prospects are broad. The first large-scale indirect air-cooling tower built and put into operation in my country is the air-cooling tower of Shanxi Yangcheng Power Plant with a height of 150 meters.
The smoke tower integration scheme is also widely used in China, but the anti-corrosion problem of cooling towers is more prominent. The ultra-supercritical unit cooling tower of Jiangsu Xuzhou Power Plant is the first million-unit exhaust cooling tower in China. The exhaust cooling tower air duct adopts a hyperbolic cast-in-place reinforced concrete structure, and the tower is 167 meters high.
